Garth Brooks was born on February 7, 1962 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As a child, Garth concentrated on sports and earned a track-and-field scholarship to Oklahoma State University. After he graduated, he devoted himself to music and in 1985 moved to Nashville. He had little luck and went back to Oklahoma and got married. He then decided to try Nashville again and was signed to Capital Records. In 1989, he released his first album which was self titled.
