Van Halen was formed in 1974 in Pasadena, California and the group went by the name Mammoth. The band consisted of Eddie Van Halen on guitar, Alex Van Halen on drums, Michael Anthony on bass, and David Lee Roth on vocals. In 1985, David Lee Roth left the band, and Sammy Hagar was named his replacement. After many years with the band, Sammy Hagar split, and was replaced by Gary Cherone.
